Practical sizing guide
Gather the inputs that determine the right system
Sizing begins with the water you have, the water you need and the way it will be used. This guide helps prepare a technical enquiry for a new installation, an equipment replacement or a change in site demand.
Describe the water and required result
Provide the source of the incoming water and an available analysis that represents the supply. Add the water requirements issued by the connected equipment or process owner. This comparison establishes what the treatment must change and helps identify the technologies to consider before a model or capacity is selected.
- Incoming analysis and sample context
- Equipment or process water specification
- Purpose and location of each treated outlet
Explain the demand over time
Daily consumption, continuous flow and peak flow describe different operating needs. Include the hours of use, equipment working simultaneously and any short filling cycles. For reverse osmosis, distinguish the production rate from the delivery required by the application. A storage arrangement may be relevant where those profiles differ.
- Normal use and maximum simultaneous demand
- Operating hours, shifts and cycle volumes
- Production, storage and delivery requirements
Add the practical installation conditions
The proposed system must work within the site layout. Record available pressure, connection sizes, plant room dimensions and drainage, along with electrical provision where applicable. Describe existing equipment and any access restrictions. These details help identify installation requirements early and support a proposal that can be reviewed by the people responsible for the site.
- Space, access and maintenance clearance
- Water, drain and electrical connections
- Existing equipment and site operating constraints
Frequently asked questions
The same daily volume can be used gradually or in a few short peaks. The equipment must be assessed against the relevant flow profile as well as total consumption.
Multiply the stated production in L/h by 24. This describes 24 hours at that rate; keep the operating conditions and planned daily run time in the project information.
Yes. Send the information already available and describe the application. This provides a basis for identifying which additional inputs are relevant to the selection.
Send your sizing requirements
Share the information available about your water and demand. Distinguish peak use from daily consumption and describe the installation conditions.
